It is now 2nd August and, at last I am able to update this page after a series of computer problems. In spite of all the weather forecasts to the contrary, we still haven’t had any serious rain here except a very light shower a couple of nights ago. Currently it is forecast for today and tomorrow but ‘ I will believe it when I see it’! At least the temperature has dropped so I can get out into the garden and catch up with dead heading etc. Hopefully, I can find a few bits to enter in the Five Parishes Show on Saturday but they will be very few.

A bit of excitement came our way on Wednesday afternoon (5th July) when Sherill, who is visiting from Spain, spotted a snake making its way into the pond. (We weren’t quite sure whether to believe her at first) All the family came out to see just as it was disappearing into the water. It was reluctant to appear again while we were present but Keith sat patiently with camera at the ready and below are pictures he took.He identified it as a grass snake about 2 feet long which he tells me was likely to be looking for a supper of frog. As the frogs do a pretty good job of devouring slugs and snails around the garden we hope he has now moved to a new ‘hunting ground’.
