INDIAN BEAD TREE

(Melia Azederach)

This small tree is now about 3ft tall.  It was given to me last year by my daughter, she having grown it from seeds gathered in Spain. Last year I had problems with white fly and red spider mite in the very dry weather but this year it seems to be thriving and surprised me with this flush of dainty pink flowers although so young. My daughter tells me that the seeds are what gives it its name and that the seeds are threaded to make rosary beads.  I am hoping that seeds will form in due course

Bearded Iris

Having planted lots of new Tulips in the Autumn I was rewarded with a very colourful display throughout most of May.The rhododendrons also did well. Last year our new neighbours at the back removed their Leylandii which had shaded the bottom of the garden where we have Rhododendrons and Jasmine which have much appreciated the light as well as catching the rainfall. I also split up my clump of Scilla Peruvians which are doing well and will hopefully multiply again. The same could not be said of the various daffodils I moved there seemed less flowers this year and they were very early hopefully they too will build up next year
